Nest thermostat waiting after setting temp

Up to the past few weeks, I could go into the Google home app set the temp and exit right away. The cooling / heating would turn on and adjust.  

Now I have to wait after I set the temp in the app. I have to wait until I hear the ac or heater kick on to know it's set right. It may take 15-30 seconds but if I leave the app before I hear the system start, the temp I set will not be take. It only started a few weeks ago. Before I could just set the temp and go.

It appears that there's some sort of delay in controlling your Nest Thermostat remotely via the Google Home app. Please check and ensure that the app is up-to-date by checking it in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Check for any network traffic that could interfere with controlling your thermostat. Environmental issues such as distance, router settings, and signal strength are some of the possible reasons why it causes lag or delays in response. Also, try rebooting your thermostat, phone, and router to refresh the connection.
