Hi Shamoltel,
Thank you for posting in the community! I'm happy to help with your concerns on how to install the Nest thermostat with your current wiring and set it up correctly.
I appreciate you sharing the wiring and system details! To make sure we get this right, it would be really helpful to see a picture of how the wires were connected to your old thermostat. You can easily upload a photo by clicking on the camera icon before sending your reply. This will help us give you the most accurate and helpful instructions for installing your Nest thermostat.
If you could also let me know what model your Nest thermostat is, that would be really appreciated.
Please keep me posted.
Best regards,
Jenniffer

Hi Shamoltel,
Thanks for the reply!
I appreciate all the information you've provided. Based on the pictures, it seems you have a jumper wire between the Y and W1 on the previous thermostat. The jumper wire between these terminals is not required for Nest thermostats. It has a built-in jumper that activates automatically when necessary. For further information, please refer to this helpful article: Learn about thermostat jumper wires.
Since you mentioned having a heat pump system with W2 wire, this is the auxiliary heat source that assists in heating your home when it's too cold outside for your heat pump to operate efficiently. However, the wires are a bit difficult to confirm in the provided pictures. Could you please share additional images that offer a clearer view of the installation? Additionally, if possible, a picture of the HVAC control board where the wires are connected to the system would be incredibly helpful.
Please keep me posted.
Best regards,
Jenniffer

Hello, just to clarify: this system is HVAC. I mentioned heat pump earlier but discovered the heat pump is for downstairs (already configured and working). I found the manual for the HVAC system and the wiring diagram. I think this may help https://ibb.co/6g7bPKm

Hi Shamoltel,
Thanks for following up!
I appreciate the diagram picture you've provided. It seems like you have a heat pump system, as there's a wire connected to the B terminal on both the previous thermostat and the system. This B wire can activate the heating function, even without a wire connected to the W terminal. To configure your system, you may need to check if the 'O' orientation for heat pumps is selected, although O orientation is the default option for heating mode.
After that, you may need to connect the blue wire to the OB terminal on the Nest Thermostat and remove the black jumper between Y and W. The other wires are correctly connected.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Jenniffer
