Nest thermostat

Reluctantly, I purchased a new nest thermostat to replace my fully functioning gen 1 or 2 Nest thermostat due to remote control being removed. I installed the new thermostat and it turned the fan on but not the ac compressor. So I’ve reinstalled the old nest thermostat and am sending the new one back. It probably just needs an update to its firmware or something.

@Awallac1 , without more information or details on how you actually wired and set up the new thermostat, I’m assuming a Nest GEN 4, it’s not possible to help you to resolve your problem. I have installed about 12 of these Nest GEN 4 now and haven’t had any problems setting them up and getting them to operate properly. So I need more understanding of what your problem was to help you resolve your installation or configuration problem.

@Awallac1 , I did not ask about the wiring, I need to know if you set the system up correctly.
Do you have heat pump system? Or

Do you have Duel Fuel sysyem? Or

Is your system two separate systems, one for heat ie., Boiler and a separate system for cooling?

@Awallac1, before you can post a picture, you need to find the “email verification” sent to you when you created your google community account. Once it is verified the picture and upload lock will be removed.

since you say you have a heat pump, do you have auxiliary or emergency heat? Did set the system configuration to Heat Pump and did you set the proper O versus B for cooling?
