Nest 3rd generation learning thermostat. I had it shut off completely for the summer as we don't have ac and when I tried to power it back on the battery was low. I charged the battery via USB and got it going again but the battery keeps dying. Help please

I took it apart and removed the internal battery, not too difficult. Ordered a replacement from Amazon, will be here tomorrow. Wish me luck

Hi @Jamespg,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're running into an issue where your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) keeps losing its charge and powering down, even after you've manually charged it via USB after having it shut off completely as you don't have AC. I'm happy to assist you.
Since you mentioned having ordered an internal battery to replace the one in the thermostat after taking it apart and removing it, I have to mention that this is not something I recommend because there is a chance of damaging the device and losing the warranty, depending on where and when you purchase it.
If you're still experiencing issues after replacing the internal battery, I recommend you contact our Nest Thermostat team by call, direct chat, or email by visiting the Contact Us page.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Anders
