Nest thermostat

Added nest power to zone valve.  2 wire system. R to r  w to w up to thermostat from power block. Common center of block to red coming from load side of transformer. 1 yellow to w transformer side.  Other yellow wire to other side of transformer all according to layout.  Now trying to set up thermostat but says same thing and not allowing to set up.  Should I just replace batteries or throw the **bleep** thing away.  Have e downstairs never a issue.

You have the wiring wrong.

The 3 wires on the adapter lets call them R3 W3 C3

Remove existing R wire from transformer that goes direclty to the Nest, and put the adapter R3 wire there.

Splice the R wire to R1

Leave the existing white wire on the transformer (this is the common side of your transformer).

At zone valve the existing White wire that is coming from the Nest, remove from the Zone valve yellow wire and splice it to the W1 on adapter.

Put the W3 wire from the adapter in its place to the Yellow wire.

The other yellow wire on the zone valve is the Common side. Remove the wire nut and put the C3 wire from the adapter in the wire nut with the existing wire so 3 wires will be connected (one of the wires goes back to the transformer common screw).

Also did you go to the Nest settings and tell it you have a power connector installed? Go to settings, equipment, power connector and turn it on so it knows its installed.
