Can someone please tell me what will happen to the nest thermostat after the 29th September? Is there an alternative? I don't have Google home thing. I really love my nest thermostat, just set it and forget it , simples really.

Are you talking about this?

Should that be a yes, then what did you find when you searched this forum?

Reason I ask, I posted this to show EVERYONE and to get an explanation from the Google brains!

Hi,

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I received an email telling me that all works with nest will cease on the 29th September 23. I wanted to know what alternative there is ? And would it be as easy to use as the nest app and device?

Than you

Read that post and it will be clear!

After all it came from the Google person

I have read the post but I have no idea what to do after the 29th ? I want to be able to continue to control my heating from an app on my android phone as it's so easy. I'll maybe look at British gas Hive

Might be an idea to read again, as the first line says this....

No it does NOT mean support for the Google Nest app ended on Sept. 29, 2023. We are still using the Google Nest app in our home for our older cameras and doorbells.

I use the OLD Nest app with a standard email, NOT GMail, NOT The rubbish migrated Google way to force you to do what Google want you to do,

That reply from the Google man, states NOTHING will not work, you will stay the same.

That was the reason for me asking on here for EVERYONE to see, and the confirmation is: Buisness as usual.

I wanted confirmation in simple English that the OLD app will work, he stated YES.

Hi Mate,

i have sorted the problem now with the help of google assist chat, I have now successfully migrated my Nest to Google account in the nest app. Open your nest app on your phone tap settings, top of the list should be a tab that says "Migrate to google"  then follow the prompts, it seems like you don't know if its right to tap the prompts but it is, then its over in less than 2 minuets, You may need your password, I did not as I was signed into the app. Hope this helps

Yes, that is not new I'm afraid, Google have been trying to get users to move over to their app for a couple of years. I don't use their email or want a Gmail or migrate on the Nest, as I use other applets Google do not support, and once moved over you cannot go back to a NONE Gmail account.

I'm glad your pleased, but that's the one thing I have refused to swap for a few years, not to migrate.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting. The Nest app will still continue to support the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E and is not affected by the works with Nest ending. However, if you have third-party devices that works with Nest, those are the products that will remain active until September 29th. Learn more about support for Works with Nest ending by checking out this article. Also, for more information, go to this Community Forum post.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
