Hello Bs4,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand the issue you're facing with your Nest Thermostat encountering E7 and E74 codes, especially during extremely cold weather. It's essential to address this issue promptly to ensure your thermostat functions optimally.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. If your thermostat has a C wire, remove it and leave it disconnected.
  2. Gather the power readouts in the Technical Info settings with and without the C wire.
  3. Perform a hard restart on your thermostat by pressing and holding the screen or button for 10 seconds to refresh.
  4. Check for any wiring reports in the Equipment settings.
  5. If the same code persists, move the power wire from the other power terminal (Rh or Rc) to see if the report disappears. This is to isolate if the issue is in the thermostat's base or from the wire itself.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
