Why did I have to install the batteries to my Google nest thermostat if it was already connected to a live c wire

Hi SA57,

That's a good question. The Nest Thermostat uses 2 AAA alkaline batteries as a backup, or in an event you will encounter power outage, or to supplement if your system can’t deliver enough power.
