I am building a new home and intend to install the basic NEST (non-learning) thermostat. What type of wire should I have the installer pull? In the past, I had to add a converter for the C wire, but this time I want to pull the right wire from the start. Any advise you can provide would be appreciated.

Hi stcbalke,
Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. Could you please share a photo of the wires connected to your control board? It will help us to move forward.

Jenelyn

My question is around a new construction and what wire should the electrician pull for the nest thermostat. There is no existing thermostat or wire.

Hey stcbalke,
Thanks for the update. If you want a physical wire to be connected on your Nest Thermostat, you have to check what are the available wires you have on your HVAC control board, so we can identify which wires your installer will pull. If you have wire connected to the C terminal in your control board, you can pull it to use as your C wire on your Nest Thermostat. Also, if you don't have an available common wire on your control board, you can use a Nest Power Connector as a substitute for a C wire.
Regards,
Jenelyn
