I am replacing the old Trane 824 with Google nest learning thermostat 3rd generation, but not sure about the wire. Do you mind telling where should black and orange wire go? And also that aux2 which line it should go to with the new nest? Thanks

Hello Lufog1,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to know more about your system.

To determine the compatibility with Nest Thermostats. Could you also tell us the make and model of your HVAC system?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hello thanks for getting back to me, the one I have is Lennox C35-30/36c-2-1 and I also have Lennox air conditioning. The old the thermostat is a Trane TCONT824AS52DAA

Trane has two wires connected to B/C but there is no B/C with nest learning themestat

Hi there,

Thanks for the details. Is this a heat pump system? If so, I'd suggest contacting an HVAC technician for the Nest Thermostat installation. Incorrect wiring configuration could cause internal damage, as we can't tell the function of the wires on the B/C terminal. But if you have a picture of your systems' control board showing how they are labeled, it would be better so I can double-check it for you.

Best,

Mark

I am pretty sure  this is not a heat pump system

is this picture good enough

Hello Lufog1,

Thanks for sharing the photo. Technically, there should only be one wire connected to the screw terminal. However, it's common practice in the HVAC industry to connect more for additional power. It's best to contact an HVAC technician for a rewire and ensure it'll work with the Nest Thermostat.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Regards,

Mark

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the late reply. I know it's been awhile, but I wanted to ensure everything was covered here.

It would be best to reach out to an installer or any local HVAC technician for proper installation. Incorrect setup due to miswiring would encounter power issues.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Mark

Hello Lufog1,

I know it’s been a while, and I thank you for reaching out to us.

Since there should only be one wire connected to the screw terminal, we recommend you to contact an HVAC technician near your local area for the installation. If you can;t find one, you may reach out to our Nest Pro technicians who can also assist you with the installation of your Nest Learning Thermostat.

Thanks,

Zoe
