Nest

Today it got a little stagnant in my room and it felt a little bit hot. So I went to thr nest thermostat and I wanted to put it at 70 but it didn't work so I had to use 69 so to get a little cool air in my room. I was going to turn off after half an hour after my room got a little bit cool. But beforehand the thermostat did a weird hornlike noise, that got me terrified and panic as if there was a fire.  Can anyone associate this weirdlike horn noise to anything?  I would appreciate the help. It was 60 degrees outside. Opening window's doesn't bring any air into my room.. Thanks

I have never heard of a horn like noise coming from a thermostat I'm sorry.  As for your situation I find when you want to get some cool air , that running the fan is the best option, and you can choose to run it for 30 minutes or an hour so you don't need to remember to turn it off.

I'm currently having the same problem. The ac repairman diagnosed the problem with my nest thermostat on Friday and will be back on Monday with the replacement parts. Well, I originally was having problems with my unit making low train horn like noises when turning on and then after running for a couple of hours the unit makes an alarming noise and sounds like the unit may blow up. The first-time I had no idea the noise was actually coming from my house and it sounds like a car or 4 wheeler engine in need of help.  Well since Friday this noise much more frequent and the furnace continues to short cycle, but after 30 seconds or if I'm lucky 4/5 minutes, then the most startling  'RAAWRRRRr' bellows from the unit and sadly 'the ac game' is over.  I immediately raise the temperature, wait a few minutes, and eventually lower the temperature a degree or two. Currently at 78 in Louisiana and looking forward to Monday. I love the convenience of the nest but I love having a working ac unit more.
