New thermostat won’t turn on despite charging for hours

Brand new learning thermostat won’t turn on. Had plugged into wall, blinking red. Nothing. Have plugged into the wall, using different charger cables and outlets. Nothing. The light blinks red when plugged in. But despite charging for over 18 hours it still won’t turn on. Please help!

The battery might be defective, since this is a brand new Nest I suggest you just do a store exchange.
