Newly installed nest thermostat is heating in cooling mode

Hi! I installed a new Nest thermostat tonight. Everything seems fine except that my AC unit is running and it’s getting hotter in my house!

I wired the unit according to the picture that I took of my wiring, so I’m not sure what the problem is. I’ve reset the thermostat a couple of time and I don’t have an option to change to heat pump. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get this thing working right?

Hi @Jerri1,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest thermostat is heating in cooling mode. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What kind of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • What type of system do you have (heat pump or conventional)?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring?
  • If possible, could you also share a picture of your previous thermostat?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me. Turns out I made a mistake in the wiring. I got it all fixed up after reviewing some of the posts on here. But again, thanks for taking the time to get back to me.
