Just installed the Nest thermostat and I am getting an E298 no power message. What do I need to do?

Hi @Shipee1!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest thermostat. I can see that you just installed the Nest thermostat, but you are receiving an E298 error that says that it is not receiving power. No worries, help is here.

To further assist you, I need some extra information. Here are a couple of questions for you:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • How many wires are connected on the Nest thermostat?
  • Have you checked if the wires are properly stripped and seated on the thermostat base?
  • Who installed the Nest thermostat?
  • Have you charged the Nest thermostat?
  • Have you checked if the breakers are on?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  • Have you contacted a technician?

In the meantime, you can check this article: Troubleshoot a "No power" alert on the Nest Thermostat (E298 or M20 help code)

I will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel.
