No presence sensing in Google Home App

claramcarvalho

I am going crazy over the unavailability of presence sensing in my phone and on the phones of any of my household members.

Location is on, high accuracy.

I don't have a Home and Away routine, but, once again, have absolutely NO IDEA how to set them, since there's no place to include them! I am stuck, needing to set my camera on and off while there isn't anyone at home, but completely out of ideas here.

Can anyone help me set the Home and Away routines and/or enable presence sensing?

Hi @claramcarvalho!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been having when trying to set up your Home & Away routines. I can see that you would like to be able to have your cameras turning on or off, depending on the presence sensing. Let me help you with this. You can set up the Home & Away routines by following the next steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Automations.
  3. Under Household Routines, tap Home or Away.
  4. Set up your Home and Away Routines by selecting the devices and settings you want to adjust when someone comes home or when everyone is away.
  5. Set up your phone's location to be used for presence sensing. To do this, you'll need to enter your home address and confirm it by placing a pin on a map.
  6. Select any other devices you want to use to determine if someone's home.

You can check the next articles for further information: Home & Away Routines and Nest Home and Away not working

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi @Guarcax , thank you.

Yesterday night, as of magic, after 1 week trying everything everyone suggested Mr (allow unrestricted use of location for Google Home App, allow of unrestricted use of battery - which I had turned on 2 days ago, and nothing changed immediately), when I entered Google Home it required me to set the Home and Away routines and the presence sensing option started to show.

Nevertheless,  now I have the same issue with my husband's phone. He has joined our house, I personally went I'm his phone and configured the location and battery options for Google Home, but still no presence sensing.

In my phone it shows that he joined the house but hasn't allowed sharing his location.

In his phone everything is shared, he has even a personal routine that is triggered by his location when the arrives/leaves home.

Another thing that is kind of odd is that I joined the Antecipatec Access (sorry, can't say if this is the correct term in English) and created a Scripted Automation for the Home, but he can't see that either. Does he have to join it too?

He now sees the option to configure Home and Away, even though the Home and Away routines are already there (I created them for the household!). When he clicks on the button to configure, the app responds that we don't have a device for that.

For out of curiosity, now the little icon that was displaying in Google Home App saying that I am part of the Public Preview (I discovered the term!), in my device, simply disappeared. I did nothing. I had it, I even created a script automation with it, that WAS SHOWING on my phone device, I went out doing some errands and took the time to see if the script worked.
To my surprise, in my phone device, the icon for the Public Preview disappeared and so the scrip automation that I had created. If I enter Google Home for Web, though, it is there.
You need to make this better, it is completely unreliable!!

Hi @claramcarvalho!

Thanks for your reply and all the information shared.

I can see that you were able to set up the Home & Away using your account and activate the presence sensing using your phone location. However, when trying to set it up on your husband's phone, it won't let you complete the process. You will need to verify if he already set the location access to always for the Google Home app. Once you have done this, you will be able to select his phone in the presence sensing tab.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi @Guarcax , yes, I have personally gone in his phone settings. I have already turned Location always on for Google Home App, and also the battery setting (something about the battery being able to set the app into suspension). He is already in the House (he and my daughter, to be honest), they both have all settings exactly like mine, but the Presence Sensing option doesn't even show in their phone.

When I enter the Presence Sensing option in my device, it shows that their location is turned off. Except that it isn't. It is on, always on, but the app doesn't seem to recognize this.

I've tried everything: remove them, include them... Please help me.
