Not cooling to desired temperature

Within the last week cooling has been an issue. It has been really hot here. However, it doesn’t seem to want to cool past 76-77 degrees. If I set it to 74 it say 2 plus ours to cool down to that temperature but it never seems to get there. Anyone else have this issue, or a solution? I just want to make sure it’s not the thermostat before I waste a contractors time.

1. What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
2. When did the issue start?
3. What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
4. Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
5. Is this a new installation?
6. What kind of HVAC system do you have?
7. When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
