Old Thermostat with Aux and Emergency same wire

Hi! I have a question regarding the connections from my thermostat to the Nest Learning Thermostat.

Basically I have an old thermostat (Honeywell TH2210DH) which has Emergency and auxiliary heating. I am told by the landlord that the auxiliary and emergency heat are different sources (i am unsure about that). However, when i look at the wires the emergency and the auxiliary uses the same wire. I have attached some images.

Could somebody please provide me some advise on how should i connect my configuration into the Nest Learning Thermostat? Thanks in advance!

Hi HernanD,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and for all the details you’ve provided. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest Learning Thermostat. Let’s check it out.

A few questions: what country are you located in? What type of HVAC system do you have? What is the make and model?

Based on the photos, you may have a heat pump. If that’s the case, connect the wires as below:

  • Yellow - Y1
  • Green - G
  • Orange - O
  • White - W2/Aux
  • Blue - C
  • Red - RC

Here’s a handy guide on how to identify a thermostat wire.

I hope that helps.

Best,

Lance
