One hour boost function

I was going to reply to the other thread with the same title but think its locked.

To continue, all the Google experts weren't providing solutions to the problem. They were only providing workarounds and patting each other on the back for NOT solving the OPs problem/question.

The problem: In the UK for decades all the most basic thermostats have an option to boost or turn on the heating for an hour, then it turns off again. Simple. Effective. Efficient.
The Nest thermostat and its app don't provide this MOST used function.
If like many users I turn UP my heating to make it override the schedule it is VERY easy to forget to turn it down/off again. Thus its no longer an efficient thermostat which is a value at the core of Nest principal and function.

The solution: The Nest thermostat is software based. By design it is 'meant' for updating and improving. Simply add this function as an option we can use. Its an easy fix and a massive selling point! A one hour 'turn my heating on to XX degrees' for one hour then turn yourself off again.

If it doesn't get this soon, I'm binning mine and getting a competitor product that does offer me this efficient option.

I've started the process of finding a replacement for my nest for this very reason. Hive is the obvious option, my son has one, but it requires a hub plugged into the router and I don't want any further clutter in that area. I wasted energy last winter due to the absence of a boost and I need a solution before the temperature falls. For a UK user lack of a boost is a baffling omission.

Hi there all,

Thanks for reaching out. From what I've seen in your description, all you need to do is to set the schedule for the thermostat to heat for 1 hour and that should sort it.

Are you kidding me? Don’t you get it? So you want me to open the fiddly schedule on my phone and mess about about adding a 1 hour schedule that I’ll then need to remember to remove before my weekly schedules get littered with a minefield of 1 hour slots going on and off all over the place?

I don’t even want to go near my phone. I want to push the god **bleep** thermostat when it feels chilly and select 1 hour boost and forget about it.   That’s it!?  It’s that Simple. And I can’t.

We'll document your feedback and hopefully the development team will implement this in the future, but I cannot promise anything. Hi, I wanted to check in. Is there anything else I can perhaps try and assist with?
