P1, P2 wires for Return Air Plenum Sensor for Nest Thermostat

Hello all, I have a RUUD HVAC system that uses 8 wires, including P1, P2. I was wondering if I need these wires work with the google nest (and whether they need to be connected) or whether they can just be taped off? On the panel of the back of the thermostat, it says: "Required Return Air Plenum Sensor (must be installed)" I have included a photo here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/9sH3p4uDRTBht4ys7 Thanks in advance for any help.
