Pin locked on Nest E thermostat

Hello, This usually means the Nest Thermostat E has a PIN lock enabled. If you don’t remember setting it, the thermostat may still be linked to another Google/Nest account. Try removing the device from the Nest/Google Home app using the original account, then perform a factory reset. If the PIN is unknown and the previous account isn’t accessible, Google Nest Support will need to unlock or reset it for you.

Hi HuskyBeardo,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your Nest Thermostat is locked with a PIN code, and I'm glad to assist you with this!
To make sure I give you the best advice, I'd like to confirm the following:

  • What is the specific version of the Nest thermostat that you have? If necessary, please check the help article How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
  • Is the thermostat online in the app (either the Nest app or the Google Home app)?
  • Could you let me know if you have already tried to unlock it through the Nest app or the Google Home app?
  • Is your thermostat's battery low?

In the meantime, I would like to share some troubleshooting steps that may help you:

  • Use the Nest app: Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen or earlier):
    • Nest app, select the thermostat you'd like to unlock.
    • Select Settings > Unlock.
  • Use the Home app: Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen):
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap Home > Climate > the thermostat.
    • Tap Settings > Thermostat.
    • Tap Lock > confirm to unlock the thermostat.

@bayiavm, thank you very much for the comment you have provided us; it's very valuable for situations like this!
