Please add a delay feature to the blower/fan for efficiency

Can you please add a blower delay feature to Nest for the ability for the fan to continue to run for a few minutes after the compressor turns off on heat pumps and AC units (and delay a few seconds after the compressor starts if possible)?  The first minute the A/C turns on, it blows really hot air and the fan turns off too soon trapping lots of cold air in the air handler and ducts. Each time the A/C turns off, I run to my Nest thermometer and turn the fan on manually and it blows cold air for another 3-4 minutes. If I don’t do this, the coils on the compressor get really cold in the summer (or hot in the winter) as soon as the fan turns off when the fan doesn’t blow for a few minutes after the compressor shuts down.  This creates so must wasted energy if the fan shuts off exactly when the compressor turns off.  If the fan were allowed to run for a few minutes longer, that cold/hot air can be released into the home to make the unit so much more efficient.  The fan can also dry the moisture on the coils in the summer to help keep mold, rust, and corrosion down.  The thermostat I replaced when I got my Nest had a delay like this.  I probably wouldn't have bought a Nest if I knew it wasted energy like this.  Is there any way you can add a delay feature to the fan on a future update so I don't have to manually run to my Nest to manually turn on the fan for a few minutes each time the compressor stops?  Since all Nests are connected to the internet, I assume you can add this update remotely so we don't have to all go buy new ones or other brands.  A lot of other Nest users I’ve spoken with are equally as frustrated as I am as other brands of thermostats do this and we can't understand why Nest doesn't do it since you claim to be so efficient when the Nest instead wastes so much energy.  Please add this to your next update so I don't have to buy a new thermostat and kindly send out information to all Nest users once this update is released so we know.  It is worthy of a news release as well as I know people have not bought Nests because they lack this feature and adding this might bring back those customers.  I'll be waiting for this feature to be added hopefully to the next remote update since it is such an easy fix.

Hi kd73,

Thanks for posting in the Community! I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed with how the Nest Thermostat handles fan efficiency. I understand that you may prefer different ways to activate the fan before it blows air. Please share your feedback on this feature. We value your input and It might be considered for future software updates.

Regards,
Axel
