My wife is always at home so we used to keep the heating on all day....but now with how gas prices have gone up we have set the heating to turn off during the day and come on at 5pm for the evening - however she has found it tuning on at around 12pm the last couple of days...which is longer than the maximum duration of 5 hours and cmlete waste of gas! - what needs to be changed ? does anyone else have this issue?

It is preheating, because it has an idea of how long it will take your home to get to temperature xx by 5pm.

Hi folks,
@kiltguy2112, Thanks for the help!
@Deano75, how's it going with your Nest Thermostat? Still need our help?
Thanks,
Edward

Hi Edward.... Thanks for your message. I have given up with preheating now, I reduced the max time it should run on preheating to 1 hour and it still came on over 3 hours before it needed to. I think there must be a software error as it certainly does not take that long to pre-heat! So true radient now turned of and the heating set to come on 30 mins earlier. Shame as it should be a good feature for the variable weather we get in the UK.

Hi there, that's a strange behavior indeed. The preheating takes into consideration several factors. You can find more details here: https://goo.gle/354YX7Y. Can you please have a look?

Hi Vladut, Thanks for your input... I have gone through the information. Unfortunately none the wiser... Somthing is not working correctly. It certainly does not need to come on 5 hours before it is needed to raise the temperature by 3 degrees. And restricting it to a max of 1 hour did not work. Unless there is reassurance of a software update changing things or removing a bug True Radiant will remain firmly off as it is wasting what is now extremely expensive gas!

That is a strange behavior indeed. In this situation it may be a behavior of the learning pattern. Would it be possible to reset the device to factory defaults and check if the same behavior persists afterwards?

Hi, I wanted to check in. Did you get a chance to try and reset the thermostat? Let me know how the thermostat behaves.
