Presence Sensing

Good morning,  I have 10 nest thermostats in our church.  They are all the same Nest programmable wifi thermostat.   They are not the learning ones.  I have it set up that the 4 in the sanctuary are 1 group and the home and away work together and our fellowship hall has 4 thermostats as well.  The other 2 are individuals.   For the past year, they have been working without a problem and they would go in home mode when someone triggers the thermostat and the temp would adjust accordingly.   Then after a couple ours of no activity,  they would go back to the away mode. I am using the presence sensing of the thermostat and not mobile devices since anyone could be coming and going.  Recently I noticed that the thermostats have not been going to away mode.  I have check settings and they are still set to presence sensing on the thermostat level and no other routines or schedules active.  Last night everyone left the church by 9pm and this morning,  my thermostats were still in home mode.  The last thing I can think of doing is a factory reset in all of them but I hate to have to set up 10 thermostats again from scratch.

Hi Weik1984,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the delay. Check for the following steps below:

  1. Make sure the products are online. If the products are offline, they can’t switch status.
  2. Make sure location services are turned on for any contributing mobile devices.
  3. Check if there are multiple devices signed into the same account.
  4. Also, were you talking on the phone at the time you got home? If you were, this may be expected behavior because many phone carriers won’t allow for phone calls and data transfer at the same time.
  5. Check Activity feed in the Home app (lower right hand tab) - this should provide an explanation of when and why the home state changed over the previous 10 days. For example, the note "Home: Activity in the house. Living Room Thermostat 7:30 P.M." means that the home switched out of Away mode because the thermostat saw activity.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
