We have an older model forced air furnace at a vacation property in BC. We have had some issues with the furnace a few times over the years when the furnace starts up but the ignition does not occur because of the part that doesn’t release the flow of gas does not function properly and therefore no flame occurs to heat the condo. The problem is, the furnace starts to run 24/7 while calling for heat and ignition (which does not happen) and we had several days with the furnace running for 24 hours but not heating to the target temperature. The Nest is okay in that it says the furnace is on but the target temp was 19 degrees C but actual temperature was staying at 9 C. So, no alerts that the furnace was running all day and that the home was not warming up. There’s even a “dont worry” statement that the nest will start up the furnace if it goes below the low temp setting to start the furnace. This is a really bad flaw in the most expensive smart thermostat on the market.
