Problem with nest

The 3rd generation thermostat WILL NOT communicate with the nest home app. We have tried everything, including all troubleshooting tips on the web. Nothing works. Second problem the thermostat was using a c wire adapter for power. Manual operation would not turn the the heating system on.  Removed the adapter and just used two wires, thermostat  then controlled heat, however when the power was shut off the thermostat shut off to save battery power.  This thermostat is in a second home so we don’t leave the heating system on during summer as it has an aquastat to maintain boiler temperature. During heating season we keep the temperature at 50 deg and want to be able to raise the temperature remotely before we get to the house.  
very unhappy with nest thermostat. Any help is greatly appreciated , thanks

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the delay. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? 

 

Please check your thermostat's power readings:

 

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.
