Question about Rush Hour (rewards)

If my thermstat is off (turned off, not just off because its not at a temperature is set). Will google/nest turn on my thermostat before, during, or after rush hour.

I'm thinking if my thermstat is off, with no temp set, it should just "ignore" for the rush hour? I could understand if I turn it on during rush hour, but I plan not to touch it.  Would nest turn my thermostat on during any rush hour?

Hi @ElectricPea

I just heard back from the Nest Specialist and the thermostat will not turn during a Rush Hour event if properly turned off.

Here's their response:  A rush hour event won't turn on the Nest thermostat if it's set to off. The goal of rush hour events is to reduce energy consumption. Since the thermostat is already off, the HVAC system is likely inactive. Therefore, turning it on and back off during a rush hour event wouldn't achieve any additional savings.

Hi @ElectricPea

If your thermostat is off, Rush Hour Rewards will not turn on the thermostat to adjust as far as I know.

Rush Hour Rewards only fine tunes the thermostat up or down while it is cooling/heating. The thermostat needs to be set to off as in this article: Nest thermostat Off mode - Google Nest Help

And just to be 100x sure, I will escalate your question over to a Nest Specialist.

thank you, I appreciate it!!
