My son has a new Nest thermostat. His current thermostat for heating and calling has R and RC wires, for heating and cooling. However the connection block on the thermostat has only six connections, Y, C, W, G , R, and OB. Where do the to R & RC connect? Thanks

If the original thermostat has separate R and RC wire and not a jumper, then only the Nest #rd Gen Learning Thermostat is compatible with it.

Can you attach both wires and place one of the wires into the R connection?

That will damage the system.
