Safety Temperature Settings & Actions

I understand that Nest will turn on heating or cooling if the Safety heating or cool temperature threshold is crossed. It will also send an alert to my phone when this happens. My question is; What if heating or cooling is already "on" ? Will it still send an alert? I am thinking of the case of a cold day and the heating system fails. The house temperature drops - will I be alerted ?  Similarly if the cooling is on and the AC fails and the temperature goes above the high-point setting.  This would be allow me to be alerted if my heating or cooling system fails.

Thanks

Bob

Hi @5iron,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your question about whether you'll still receive Thermostat Safety Temperature notifications if your heating or cooling is already running when the temperature reaches the set limit. I’ll be glad to share more information with you.

Your Nest thermostat's Safety Temperature feature is always active, continuously monitoring your home's temperature. If it reaches a set limit, you'll receive a notification, regardless of whether the thermostat is already on. Please check out this article to see more information about Thermostat Safety Temperatures.

Please keep me posted if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Derick.
