Schedule reverting to previous settings

joannesr6
Community Member

We recently went away for 3 weeks and changed the schedule so that the heating came on for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night and set the temperature to 17.5 as advised by our gas engineer.

When we've come back, we submitted our gas meter readings and were really disappointed to see the gas cost hadn't reduced very much.

When i went into the schedule on the app, it had reverted to the schedule that it was before we amended it to go away (apart from it had held the early morning start time of 1am but changed the off time to the previous off time of 8am - so it was on for 7 hours each Sunday we were away)

I can only check the history for January so i cant tell how long, if at all, it held the amended schedule.

has anyone else had this problem?  All learning/auto schedule etc are off and we've never had this problem at all.

Hello joannesr6,

I'm sorry if you have to go through this. I understand that Nest Thermostats are designed to be more efficient when it comes to saving energy. But I'd love to know more about this.

Could you please tell us what type of Nest Thermostat you have? Make sure that there are no duplicates on the schedule to avoid constant runs. Disabling the Home/Away Assist feature would also allow your thermostat to only follow your preset temperatures rather than override them and switch to Eco mode.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hi / its the learning nest and i have disabled everything that might interfere with my manually inputted schedule and there were no duplicated schedule.

its never happened before and we did everything the same.
Its just been really frustrating/annoying as we had expected to come back to a much lower heating bill having been away for 3 weeks and it was the same as if we had been home!

Thanks for the response. To isolate the issue, could you try resetting your schedule and set it up again? You can click on this link to learn about resetting your schedule.

Hi Edward.  This hasn't happened any more since we have returned.  We've amended the schedule slightly to what it was previously and it has held, which makes it even stranger.  We wondered if there were factors like quick power cuts that affected the schedule settings - no other settings have changed or been different to other times we have been away.

It just means we will have to keep checking the schedule every time we are away to make sure it doesn't happen again, which obviously isn't ideal. And we are still smarting about the extra costs that have been incurred because of this - this year of all years!!
