Scheduling not working for nest themostat

I manually created the schedule for seven days on my nest thermostat, which has a mirror face. But the thermostat doesn't follow the schedule. I have reset to factory settings twice. I have another nest learning thermostat in the house. I tried to put them into different wifi subnets so that hopefully they won't affect each other. I also turned off the Presence Sensing for both thermostats. But these don't work.

My schedule is like this:

9:30am 82F Eco

4:30pm 79F Comfort

11:00pm 80F Sleep

Recently I noticed that the thermostat could switch from lower temperature to higher temperature but not from high to low temperature. So the 4:30pm switching never happens. The switching time is always displayed correctly on the mirror screen but the temperature doesn't change by following the schedule.

I filed two Google claims but nobody reached me. This is very frustrating. How this "intelligent" device cannot do some very basic operations?

Hello yubobarry,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat not following its temperature schedule. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

In the Google Home app, check the Routines feature and remove all thermostat actions. This usually triggers your thermostat to not hold its temperature or change unexpectedly if there are programmed actions.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to get your thermostat working. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, it took me one month to figure out that my other Nest 3rd generation programmable thermostat affected this Nest thermostat. Could you explain how this could happen? I had turned off all the routine and presence sensing on both thermostats.

Hi yubobarry,

Good question! Thanks for letting me know. The Nest Thermostat is fully integrated into the Google Home app, so most of its settings are associated with the app itself. While the Nest Learning Thermostat settings are mainly in the Nest app, which has limited access to the Google Home app.

With this, if both thermostats are linked to the same email account, the changes apply for features such as Presence Sensing, Home and Away Assist, and Routines, usually by default. So if you're going to enable them, make sure to select the thermostat device you prefer to use these features on.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Regards,
Mark

I know this is beyond your ability to explain. A nest software engineer must be involved to reproduce the problem and perform troubleshooting. I just report the issue here: If I add the 3rd generation first to Home and then add the Nest thermostat, the scheduling on the Nest thermostat won't work. I have described the problem in my first post. If I add the Nest thermostat first and then the 3d generation, the scheduling is working. But the custom temperatures still can't be switched to. Only the Sleep, Eco, and Comfort temperature work in the schedule.
