Separating display from base of thermostat

Can the base and display half of the thermostat be separated without damage?

They need to be connected together to do the setup but once they are together they can't be attached to the wall plate, as the screw holes are hidden. I know I can also buy a stand but the wall plate is in the ideal position and there isn't anywhere suitable for the stand! I also do not know whether I will be able to fit it to the stand already assembled?

The fitting plate is either fixed onto the base, or wired into your wall plate, the thermostat just pulls off that base, the stand does not come with the base. it comes with the stat - so it's either fixed to the wall plate OR the stand

Thanks for the reply, but you can not set it up without fitting the display to the base, and as I was also concerned about the wireless range as it is quite a way from the boiler it is controlling, and the thermostat is not where the original thermostat was so I set it up within wireless range of the receiver, particularly as I now know it is a proprietary wireless signaling system (thank you Alexd!) so I am sorry - your answer did not tell me anything I did not know before, but thanks for the swift reply.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out. In this specific case, if you want to control or to move the thermostat in the house, you can consider purchasing a stand for it.
