I am installing a 3rd generation Nest thermostat in a different location to the existing wired thermostat. If I use the USB port for power, will it still signal to the heat link over the wifi?

Thanks for the reply, but you can not set it up without fitting the display to the base, and as I was also concerned about the wireless range as it is quite a way from the boiler it is controlling, and the thermostat is not where the original thermos...

Thanks AlexD, that is absolutely brilliant. Wifi is perfect here so I don't think we will have a problem there, and I also liked your suggestion of pairing it while its next to the heat link.
