This has become a new issues and is causing my system to run longer than it needs to and its not making any sense to me. I set my temp to 73 and for some reason once the desired temp is reached it keeps going until it reads 72 then shuts off. same situation if I set to 74 then it shuts off at 73, it makes no sense. I want it to shut off once the desired temp is reached, i have turned off home away, eco, sunblock, early on, airwave, pretty much all the features are turned off and no schedule is set.
the only thing i can think of is because I signed up with a program through my electric company to try to get a discount each month on the electric bill where they try to do these energy rush savings things, but i typically just ignore it and set it back to my desired temp because they crazy if they think they saving me money by letting it get to 78 for one hour then try cool my house down in this texas heat, its just going to run my unit even longer.
but as it is now my unit runs 15 - 16 hours a day because of this issue where it won't shut off once the desired temp is reached.

The nest thermostats have a non-adjustable maintenance band of +/- 1F from the setpoint. This means that the thermostat will cool until it is 1F below the set value and then not come on again until the temperature rises to 1F above the set value.
