Automatic schedule changes

Gregk2
Community Member

Hello I am looking for some help turning off automatic schedule changes. I know how to get to the menu , settings, temperature preferences, automatic schedule changes. But on this menu there is no toggle to turn it on/off. All it says is…

Your thermostat can learn from the adjustments you make throughout the day to automatically optimize your schedule.

any ideas on how to fix this, I have a set schedule I want but this feature keeps changing it so my AC is cranked to the max all day long, which I do not want.

thank you

Hello @Gregk2

Thanks for reaching out to our community about this thermostat configuration. Sorry for hearing about this situation. Don't worry; I'm here to help you with it.

Let me ask you if you are trying to use the Nest App to deactivate this option. You need to sign in with your account and go to:

  1. Open the Nest App.
  2. Select your Nest thermostat.
  3. Select Settings, and then Auto-Schedule.
  4. Tap the switch to turn it off.

If you use the Google Home App, you can try this:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select Favorites  or Devices.
  3. Select your thermostat.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Temperature preferences.
  6. Auto-Schedule. Then select Off.

Feel free to reply to this post with more details in case you completed these steps and need more assistance. I'm here to find a solution for you.

Best regards,

Douglas.

I tried a reset - Google Home is STILL NOT turning off Auto Schedule.  Don't even see the Schedule create UI on Google Home.

You need to escalate an issue to Nest/Home team - Nest still allows schedule creation (manually), HOME does not.  Instead of asking us to factory reset, look at the actual issue - which is likely Google not finishing the Home app functionality.  Also missing is setting time of day bands to the sensors (Sensors now show up but no way to change which is used when on a schedule)

I'm having the same issue. There is no option in the Thermostat settings to turn the "Automatic Schedule Changes" off in the Google Home app. Additionally, the Best App doesn't let me add my Nest Thermostat as a device, so it redirects me to use the Google Home app. The Nest app only lets me add my smoke detectors. It's nearly useless.

Hello @Gregk2

Thank you for your reply regarding your thermostat auto-scheduling. I am very sorry to hear about this situation. I am here to help you with that.

Let me ask you if you tried to perform a Factory Reset On Your Thermostat. With this, you can set the thermostat from the beginning and re-link it with the Nest app.

Please feel free to keep posting about your case, I will do my best to find a solution for you.

Regards,

Douglas.

I haven't yet because my phone (pixel 8 pro) and my Nest Thermostat are both up to date and I've performed a normal reset for them both. The latest update to Google home changed something and I would like to see the that the Google Home app get the ability to change a setting that is now suddenly malfunctioning.

Factory reset, starting from scratch, and adding my routines/automations is not the solution I was hoping for. I'll give it a try, but I really hope Google can fix the programming issue.

This is an ACTUAL ISSUE! Is Google NOT going to fix it? Is Google getting some kind of kick back from electric companies for screwing its customers? I have the same problem. I just had a cooling system installed in my upstairs and bought  Google Nest thermostat. I am going through menopause with intense hot flashes and this thermostat keeps changing the temp on its own, raising the temp while I try to sleep! There is no excuse for the false advertising and bait and switch you guys are doing to customers! Update the Home app to offer an option to disable these “smart” features!

We are also having the same issue with our thermostats. I've tried factory-resetting one of them and nothing changed

your guys have removed the option to turn off auto scheduling. It’s nice to spend money on something just for a company to tell what my temp should be

I am having the exact same problem with my nest thermostats, restart does not fix the issue.
