Sharing control of Nest

Hello everyone,

My brother and I both have Nest thermostats in our homes and our own separate accounts we access with our android phones.   We recently purchased a lake-house together and purchased a 3rd gen nest Learning thermostat.  How can I add the thermostat to my account and share it with him without giving him access to my personal home thermostat?  Is that possible?

Thanks in advance

Hi, @newok!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand that you want to grant your brother access to the thermostat you share, but not to the rest of your devices. I'm happy to guide you through the process!

To answer your question, yes, this is possible. If you add the Nest thermostat to a separate "home" within the Nest app, distinct from where your other devices reside, you can provide access to that specific "home" only. Visit the following help center to know how to create a new home in the Nest app: Create another home in the Nest app

Sharing access to a "home" in the Nest app requires a Google account. The invitation process is managed through the Google Home app, where the recipient will receive and accept the invitation via email. Once accepted, the shared "home" will be visible in both the Google Home and Nest apps, as long as the invited person uses the same Google account to log into both platforms. Refer to the following article for instructions: Share a home and devices in the Google Home app.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
