Supplemental Terms Error

I’ve seen issues with this before but I still can’t get past the “Supplemental Terms Error” when trying to link my new Nest Thermostat to my google account.

I have a g-suite account on a custom domain, but I get the same error when trying to log in from my @Gmail account. I think the accounts are linked.

super frustrated… what I am doing wrong, why is this so hard, all my other smart devices took 5 minutes.

Just to follow up on this… I spent a good deal of time researching and it seemed my issue was due to my primary google account being a g-suite account. Even if I tried to register with my normal gmail account it would still have the same issue, as the accounts are linked.

I called nest customer service, first gentleman insisted I have to install the thermostat to resolve the issue. I did mention the potential g-suite conflict and pushed back that install could be related (I was really just trying to register my account t at this point). We hung up and I installed the thermostat stat.

I called back and spoke to a woman who repeatedly put me on hold as she tried to look into the issue, ultimately we were disconnected.

Called back again and a different woman ran me through the same questions, she asked if she could transfer me to the thermostat specific help desk… of course.

After a transfer the thermostat specific agent took about 10-15 minutes to come to the conclusion that my issue was the g-suite hosting of the email. His only solution was to create a separate email address to log in and out of when trying to access the app….

I ultimately returned the Nest, went to my local hardware and bought an Emerson product that was installed and functional in under 20 minutes.

How is it possible that google has a product that will not work with Google email addresses???? I have used google for years, and will continue to, but this was one of the most nonsensical and comically bad customer service fails I have seen in a while.

Hi Cowescott,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the experience that we want to share with our customers. We don't have any news to share about the Google Home app supporting G Suite accounts. We appreciate users who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking to improve — we'll take this as feedback.

Thanks,

Edward
