System is ignoring schedule and setting temps unacceptably cold

I have the schedule set so temp for heating are set to 64 degrees when no one is home. But Nest has been ignoring that and lowering temp to 50 degrees. We’ve been having sub zero weather in Chicago so with temp down to 50 when I get home it takes 3 hours or so before temp is comfortable again. How can I get system to obey schedule and not lower temps to 50? There is no way that is more efficient because of how hard system has to work once we’re home.

Hi ChicagoJoe,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that the Home Away feature does not activate correctly, and I'm happy to assist you!

Before I can help, I need to ask a few questions:

  • How many Google Nest devices do you have?
  • How many people use the Google Home app or Nest app?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

There is just one Nest Thermostat. I am the only one with the Nest app on my phone.

Hi ChicagoJoe,

Thanks for your reply. Please try the following steps:

  • Check if your Google Nest thermostat device has a good Wi-Fi connection: On the thermostat display, go to Settings > Network > Check if it says "Connected."
  • Check what devices are set to contribute to Home/Away Assist:
    • Nest App: Settings > Home/Away Assist > What decides if you're home. Make sure you have selected your Google Nest thermostat device.

I will be awaiting your response.

Regards,

Manuel
