Temp sensor cannot see nest thermostat

I have the Nest Gen4 Learning Thermostat.  I bought 2 gen 2 temp sensors.  Both are successfully added to Google home App, but are showing offline.  I see them in Nest app, but it says there are zero thermostats associated.  It seems that nest app cannot see the thermostats although Google Home sees them and they are functioning just fine with Google Home app.  The Google Home app never finds the thermostat after the sensor is added in the setup process.

Why can’t the sensors communicate with the thermostat?

Hi Zoomdmartin02,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that the two Nest Temperature Sensors 2nd gen are showing offline in the Google Home app and you can see them in the Nest app, but you’re getting a message saying there are zero thermostats associated. Thank you for letting us know that the Google Home app never finds the thermostat after the sensors were added in the setup process. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please double-check if you are using the same Google account in your Nest app as in the Google Home app?
  • Did you migrate your Nest account to a Google Account?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app and the Nest app?
  • Could you confirm the make and model of the mobile device that you are using to set up your Google devices?

In the meantime, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Remove the Google Home app and the Nest app from your mobile device.
  • Reboot your mobile device.
  • Install again the Google Home app and the Nest app.
  • Check if your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) and your two Nest Temperature Sensors (2nd gen) are online.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Virna
