Temperature Sensor Issue

d_cappy
Community Member

I currently use a remote sensor to register the ambient temperature in the room. Every once in a while, there will be a glitch and the temperature sensor reverts to the using thermostat instead of the remote sensor. On both the app (iOS) and the base thermostat, the remote sensor is selected, but the unit is still using the thermostat ambient temperature reading instead of the remote sensor. I try to toggle back and forth between the thermostat and the remote sensor, but it does not solve the issue. The only solution is to reset the thermostat. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hey there d_cappy,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that Nest Temperature Sensor issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this can be pretty frustrating. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • When was the last time you changed the battery in the sensor?
  • What Nest Thermostat are you using?
  • Where have you placed the Nest Temperature Sensor?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

For now, I would check out this article on troubleshooting the sensor, as well as this article on setup, specifically the section on where to place the sensor.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thanks so much for following up. I thankfully have not had the issue again since I last posted the query. Fingers crossed that it was just an odd hiccup.

The issue happened around when I last posted the query. I did not change the battery in the sensor yet -- but the sensor is only about 6 months old (from when I purchased it). I hadn't performed any other trouble shooting yet (aside from reseting the thermostat). When I last spoke with someone over the phone, my next step was going to be to capture a screengrab showing the issues happening, and then email it to the customer service rep I was speaking with. However, the issue hasn't occurred since.

Thank you.
