Temperature Sensor update

Is there any possibility the "Nest Temperature Sensor" will be updated for compatibility with the "Nest Thermostat" ? Yes this is both a serious question and tongue in cheek because these are literally the words on the boxes (boxes that live side by side in Best Buy). The box also says on the front "For Google Nest thermostats". The bottom of the thermostat box says "Google Nest Thermostat". I own Google everything at this point and I don't think I've ever felt outright cheated by the company until now. This is flat out deception plain and simple. If the front of both boxes use the same verbage, and the boxes live together in the store, but I have to research on the internet or read fine print on the side of the box to figure out they don't actually work together then something is seriously wrong. Customers should be owed an update in compatibility, an open ended refund, or some sort of legitimate explanation from Google on how this is not deliberate and purposeful deception. And before all the Google fanboys start attacking this fanboy I understand that if I would have researched online beforehand it is a documented thing, but sometimes you are in the store and see products from a company you trust and you just buy them, not thinking that the packaging and verbage would be an outright lie. Don't trust companies is probably the only real answer to this post.

Hi D_Blanchet,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Currently, Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and Nest Thermostat E are the Nest Thermostats compatible with our Nest Temperature Sensor. Please be assured that our product team is working non-stop with different partners to bring the best features to our Google Nest devices. So, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback. We'll also take your feedback as an opportunity to learn and to be able to provide a better experience in the future. Feel free to create a new thread if you have more questions or other concerns, and we'll be happy to help.

Best,

Zoe

This reply doesn't address the actual question asked. Google doesn't need to work with "different partners to bring the best features" because they are both your products. Google needs to work on itself to bring the best features. The question is, how does this not constitute deliberately deceptive packaging and marketing? Can someone at Google explain why they think it's ok to use the verbiage on the packages for these two products when they are not compatible? Just because you put it in tiny print on the side does not take away from what is in bigger letters on the front.

I have to agree with D_Blanchet. My new "Google Next Thermostat" sat beside "Nest Temperature Sensors" on the shelf in Home Depot. The cover of the sensor boxes says, "For Google Nest thermostats" on it. And the cover of the thermostat box says, "Google Nest Thermostat".  Yet when I scan the QR code for the sensor at setup it says, "actually you need a different thermostat, sorry".  That's pretty much the definition of bait and switch. Are you going to let these devices work together the way their packages say they do?
