Each set point lasts until the next one.  You could create a schedule with four set points, e.g.:

6AM    70
8AM    52
6PM    70
8PM   52

Is this the kind of thing you mean?

Hi thank you! Kind of, basically just with gas and electric prices in the UK now I absolutely can't afford to have the heating on at all times, even two hours throughout the day seems too pricey haha, but was hoping to find a way of setting the thermostat so the heating is on say 6-8 am and pm but is switched off the rest of the time, does that make sense?

Hi folks,

@CBFox, thanks for the help!

@CBFox, how's it going with your Nest Thermostat? Still need our help?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi thank you for replying, can you see my response to @@CBFox? I basically just want the heating on at specific times but off the rest is that possible?

I tried to suggest a scheme that would do what you want, by creating a schedule that sets the thermostat high for two hours each morning and evening, and very low the rest of the time.  I.e., triggering your heat for two hours each morning and evening but not at other times unless the house gets unbearably cold.  Does that not work?

It's just that my bills will be too expensive if it's on all the time, even if it's at a low temperature during the day, where I live is very cold so it always tries to increase the heat if that all makes sense

It's too bad that you can't schedule a temperature below 50F.  (At least, I can't on my Learning model.  Google, why did you do that?  Dumb old thermostats from decades ago can go down to 40F.)  However, you CAN set your Eco temperature down to 40F.  So any time that it's so cold that a temperature of 50 would be running the heat too much, you could turn Eco Mode on to let it drop as low as 40.  It will be awfully annoying to have to do this manually, so you could try to use Home/Away Assist.  The Nest will decide whether or not it thinks you're home, and if not it will heat only to your Eco temperature.  If you layer Home/Away Assist on top of a schedule such as I suggested, maybe it will meet your needs.
