Temperature setting changes by itself

Two days ago I set the mode on my Gen 3 thermostat to Heat. Both mornings since then I have been awoken by the heat to find the temperature set to 74°F. The scheduled temperature is 61. Nowhere in the configuration is 74 set. Nobody is changing it.

Where is this coming from?

Hi Crash88,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen that is changing temperature by itself. But don't worry; help is here. In this case, I just need to ask for some information to provide the best assistance:

  • What steps did you try to solve the situation?
  • Did you try to turn off the learning schedule?
  • Do you see any schedules set for that time?

Once I have this information, I can provide the best solution.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,
Jenny

I thought I had responded to this promptly, but I see that I somehow failed.

All I've done is turned the set temperature back down and changed the mode back to Off. Fortunately it's not very cold yet.

Auto-Schedule is On and Learning. There have been no adjustments made that it would have "learned".

The heat schedule is set for 59 at 2:00 AM and 61 at 6:00 AM.

History showed the set temperature was changed to 74 by user just before 6:00. I guarantee no user changed it.

Hi Crash88,

Thanks for your reply and the information provided. We recommend checking the schedule that you already have for the change that the thermostat is doing. If you see that schedule, you can delete it and try to turn off the auto-schedule to test and see if that solves the situation.
Here are the steps to turn off the auto-schedule.
Nest app

  • Open the Nest app, then select your Nest thermostat.
  • Select Settings > Auto-Schedule.
  • Tap the switch to turn it off.

On your thermostat

  • Choose Settings > Nest Sense > Auto-Schedule > Off.

Please let me know how that goes. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Jenny
