Temperature tolerance

For forced air heat, at what temperature drop below the set temperature will a Nest thermostat start the system?  Can I configure the allowed temperature drop?

Hi Jeff66b,

Thanks for checking it with us. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Also, in what country are you located?

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi folks,

@Jeff66, chiming in—Nest Thermostats have an "Early-On" feature that starts heating your home before the scheduled temperature change. The temperature differential at which the thermostat activates the heating system can vary based on the model, configuration settings, and heating system characteristics. By default, the thermostat activates when the actual temperature drops about half a degree below the set temperature, preventing frequent cycling and promoting energy efficiency. Nest Thermostats allow users to adjust heating settings, such as temperature and mode, in the Nest app or on the thermostat itself. They also allow users to adjust schedules and temperature targets to optimize comfort and energy efficiency based on their preferences and daily routines.

I appreciate your help, Jenelyn.

Thanks,

Zoe
