Thermostat Cooling

I am currently running my unit in stage two in my home inside. Reads 82°. However, I have set the thermostat to cool down to 62°. Can you believe it is still reading 82° 10 hours later????. Please chime in and let me know what you think, Because I’m now completely dissatisfied with the service of this unit.

Hi Speaksmusic,

Thanks for posting in the community! I understand you're currently running your unit in Stage 2, set to cool down to 62°, but it's still reading 82° ten hours later, and you're rightfully dissatisfied. No worries, help is here.

From what you've described, your Nest thermostat seems to be working correctly (calling for Stage 2 cooling), but your HVAC system isn't producing cold air. This often indicates an issue with the AC unit itself, requiring a professional to ensure the system is seamlessly integrated.

However, to help us investigate further and pinpoint the exact cause, please answer the following questions:

  • What specific Nest thermostat model do you have? Please check the article How to tell which Nest thermostat you have, if necessary.
  • Have you ever enrolled your Nest thermostat in any energy-saving programs (like "Rush Hour Rewards" or "Seasonal Savings") offered by your electricity provider?
  • Could you check your Nest app or Google Home app for any specific icons or messages on your thermostat's display during those 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. hours (e.g., a gold gear with a Nest Leaf)?
  • During the 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. period, does your outdoor AC unit (condenser) appear to be running (fan spinning, making noise)?
  • Does any air, even if not cold, still come out of your indoor vents?
  • When was your HVAC system last professionally maintained, and were any settings changed?

Please provide these details, and we'll work together to find a solution.

Regards,

Humberto
