Thermostat base is getting warm

Tom5778

I just install my new nest thermostat. The current temperature reading is 3 to 5 degrees above ambient room temperature. I pulled the thermostat off and took a temperature reading of the base with all the wires connected. My laser thermometer read almost 80 degrees. The base is warm to the touch. I assume that is not normal and could be the reason the thermostat reads high. I reset all of the wires and checked to make sure they were stripped properly. Anyone ever see this?

Same here. Found two burned spots on the PC board in the base.

Were you ab;e to repair the Board?
