Thermostat has no power

Hayley-H

So I set my thermostat up and linked it to the heat link and all was working well. Then suddenly my thermostat said it could not connect to the WiFi and now my thermostat does not have any power even if plugged into the mains. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey @Hayley-H,

Thanks for reaching out. I'll do my best to get this resolved for you. Do you see any LEDs on the Heat Link?

The heat link is fine and we can turn the heating on and off using it. The issue is the thermostat. We initially set it up all fine and then one day it said the WiFi was not connected and we could then not get it connected again. I therefore removed the thermostat from my nest account to try and add it again but now I cannot add it as when it gets to this point I get the TD004 error. I managed to charge the thermostat by removing it from the stand and charging at the back.

Thanks for getting back to me. Here are some steps you can try:

1. Turn off all the devices in the room that are using Wifi or Bluetooth.
2. Reset the thermostat by pressing it quickly 2 times and then press and hold the display for 5 seconds.
3. Reset the Heat Link by pressing its button 1 time to wake it up and then press and hold for 15 seconds.
4. Power cycle your phone.
5. Open the Nest app and create a new home structure.
6. Enable airplane mode on your device and then enable your Bluetooth and Wifi.
7. Add the thermostat to your new home ( you can also try to add it without scanning the QR code ).

Let me know how it goes.

I tried the steps you provided but unfortunately I am still getting the same TD004 error. It looks to try to connect and the thermostat confirms it is looking for networks but then the thermostat temporarily goes back to showing what looks to be a phone screen with the home button inside. Then back to processing and eventually the error.

Thanks for trying. Can you try to connect the thermostat to your hotspot instead of your Wi-Fi? Please try the same steps I posted above ( using hotspot this time ).

It won't allow me to not use WiFi. It says WiFi is needed to set it up

That's right, but you can connect it to a mobile hotspot instead of the Wi-Fi.

It wouldn't allow me to. It kept asking me to turn on WiFi and would not move to the next step until I turned on the WiFi 😞

Hey @Hayley-H,

Apologies for the delayed response, we've been dealing with higher volumes than usual. When you turn on Mobile hotspot, in the phone's settings you have the option to share the hotspot as Wi-Fi, which when you turn on, should do the trick. Have you tried that already?
