Thermostat not found in app

I have a nest thermostat. Have used it for nearly three years but don’t frequently try to adjust on the app. The last few times I’ve tried, the app is telling me the device is offline, but when I check the device it says it’s connected to my wifi with a “strong” connection. I’ve gone through the troublshooting steps through the app including disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi, resetting the device, replacing batteries, disconnecting and reconnecting to Bluetooth, forgetting the device from my app…I think that’s all. The device is still heating and cooling, however I cannot edit the presets through the app because the app cannot detect it. Any thoughts?

Hello EL2,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your Nest Thermostat. It seems like you've already gone through quite a comprehensive troubleshooting process. Since the device is still functioning in terms of heating and cooling, the problem might be related to the communication between the app and the thermostat.

Here are a few additional steps you can consider:

  1. Check your router settings to ensure that there are no restrictions or firewalls preventing the app from communicating with the thermostat. You might also want to try restarting your router.
  2. Verify that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Thermostat. Sometimes, issues can arise if they are on different networks.
  3. Check if the app has the necessary permissions to access your thermostat. On some devices, restricting background data usage or app permissions can impact connectivity.
  4. Uninstall the Nest app from your mobile device and reinstall it. This can sometimes clear up any glitches in the app that may be causing the connectivity problem.

I hope one of these suggestions helps resolve the connectivity issue with your Nest thermostat. Let me know if you need more help.

Best,
Mark
