Thermostat not working

I’ve spent the last few days trying to reconnect my Nest Learning Thermostat, and the entire experience has been extremely frustrating. I followed every single troubleshooting step possible — factory resets, network resets, reinstalling the app, reconnecting Wi-Fi, wiring checks, battery checks, and even trying to get an entry key through different networks. Nothing worked.

The Nest App consistently showed “Something went wrong,” and the thermostat refused to generate an entry key. I even tried connecting it to my phone’s hotspot, which the thermostat couldn’t detect. I reset it multiple times and confirmed everything on my end was fine — battery was fully powered, wiring was correct, and Wi-Fi was connected — yet the device was stuck in the same loop.

What made this even worse was how difficult it was to reach actual support. I spent over five hours trying to get help. Phone numbers listed online didn’t work, and the app kept looping me back to the website. When I finally reached someone, I was told that the device was no longer supported — something I was never notified about. They discontinued access without warning, and as a customer, I was left troubleshooting endlessly for a problem that wasn’t even fixable on my end.

For a thermostat that originally worked perfectly and was a major investment, this level of support and communication is really disappointing. Customers deserve proper notice when support is being removed — not hours of wasted time trying to fix a device that Google silently stopped supporting.

Hi @MD22

The email address you used to setup the thermostat should have received an email about this a while ago now (maybe check your spam/junk folders), it also includes an offer. The end of support has also been well publicised here, and reported on by many news outlets.

I’ve had a similar experience. For what it’s worth I think I’ll never buy another nest product again. I’m extremely disappointed.
