Thermostat out of control

My Nest thermostat won’t stay at the temperature I set it to. It turns on Eco even when I’m home so all of a sudden the temperature is higher or lower than I wanted it. I’ve turned off Eco many times. It also makes random schedules even after I’ve deleted all the schedules it set. Please help

Hello Malka,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you, and I appreciate all the steps you've taken. Let's see what's going on.

Please check your actual thermostat's Home and Away settings. Make sure it's turned off, and go to the Nest Sense settings to disable the auto-schedule. This will help to avoid random temperature changes. Also, restart your thermostat to refresh.

Please let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you, and I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark

Thank you, thank you!! I had already figured out about turning off the auto-schedule but thanks to your advice, I just turned off the automatic eco setting! My thermostat is in the basement so I guess if people weren’t passing it, it would decide that no one was home! The last part you suggested, to restart the thermostat to refresh, what is that for?

Hi there,

Chiming in — I'm glad to hear that your issue is now fixed. Restarting a Nest Thermostat could help to re-calibrate its sensor. Also, a restart is useful if the thermostat is stuck or frozen, can't connect to the internet, or doesn't work normally. Please let me know if you still have any questions or concerns. Otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

I appreciate your help, Mark.

Best,

Jenelyn
