Thermostat presets doesn't work.

Hello there!

Here's the issue

I've encountered an issue with my Google Nest thermostat. In the "thermostat presets" menu, there are three settings: "comfort," "eco," and "sleep," each programmed to operate at specific times of the day. However, they've stopped functioning correctly. The thermostat continuously maintains a single temperature. When I manually switch between these presets, the thermostat shows new temperature settings, but within a second, the temperature slider reverts to the previously active value. I tried reinstalling the Google Home app, but it didn't resolve the issue.

Additionally, I attempted to change settings through the Google Home speaker using voice commands. The speaker confirms the mode has been switched, but the thermostat itself doesn't change its settings.

The only feature working is the manual adjustment using the "+" and "-" buttons. What could be the problem, and how can it be resolved?

Hi Sergei555,

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat's presets are not functioning correctly and the temperature settings revert back to the previously active value. Check on these:

  1. Ensure that your Google Nest thermostat is running the latest firmware version.
    • From the home screen on your thermostat, select Settings > Go to Version > Update.
  2. To reset a temporary software glitch on your Nest Thermostat 2020, restart it by disconnecting power for a few seconds, reconnecting, and waiting for it to boot up.
    • Go to Settings > select Restart > Factory Reset.
  3. If this doesn't work, perform a factory reset, which erases all settings and preferences.
  4. Ensure your thermostat is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, as weak or unstable connections can affect communication between the thermostat and the Google Home app. Move the thermostat closer to your router or troubleshoot network issues.
  5. Finally, remove and re-add the thermostat in the Google Home app to refresh the connection and settings between the app and the thermostat.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe

Thank you for answering.

I rebooted the thermostat and it solves the issue.
